Grand Renovations for Downtown Grand Ledge

In 2022, the City of Grand Ledge received a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) Program, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. The grant supported enhancements to downtown public spaces, including landscaped planters, bump-out seating, and replacement of deteriorated brick pavers with decorative stamped concrete. The scenic overlook deck at Riverfront Park was expanded and a public restroom added to support events along Bridge Street. Terraced seating was created at Fitzgerald Memorial Field for improved accessibility, and an adjacent street was redesigned for flexible public seating and event use. Giffels Webster collaborated closely with city staff to design, oversee, and ensure high-quality construction. These upgrades improve downtown’s appearance, safety, and usability, offering residents and visitors vibrant spaces to gather. Giffels Webster also implemented a communication strategy to keep businesses and the public informed, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and minimizing disruption throughout the project.
